| San José is a noisy, bustling
city, the economic, political and cultural center of the country. If you
have come to Costa Rica to get close to nature, you will probably want
to get out of San José as fast as posible.
Set in the middle of the Central Valley, sorrounded by high mountains. On the upside, San José still ranks as one of the safest cities in the Western Hemisphere and has much less violent crime than most US cities. Foreigners enjoy the city’s springlike climate, the availability of high-quality cultural events like National Simphony concerts and international music, dance, theater and film festivals. Great places to dine are also plentiful in San José.
